Sunday ...
We started the morning off bright and early at 7:45. Breakfast was served buffet style at the Crystal City Sports Pub. Once loaded onto the bus, the group headed to the Albert Einstein memorial for a group photo. We all had a blast climbing around on the massive statue.

From there, we walked to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. I think I can speak for the group, in saying we were all very moved by the memorial. The immense amount of names on the grand wall created an amazing visual representation of the war victims. Many of us had people from our hometowns whose names were on the wall. Finding the names of these soldiers made the experience more personal, and moving.

After the Vietnam Memorial, we were given five hours to explore museums on the National Mall. We all had passes to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Everyone really enjoyed the artifacts and stories it held and found it was an unforgettable learning experience.

Many other popular sights were the National Archives, the Natural History Museum, and the American History Museum. A group of us took a rest at the fountain in the sculpture garden. We had a blast watching the ducks swim close and just relaxing.

After our busy day on The Mall we headed to Ben's Chili bowl for nationally famous half smokes. They were delicious and all of us understood today why Barack Obama and many other celebrities have felt the need to stop in.

Once we were done with supper, we ended the night with a boat ride on the Potomac River. Some of us enjoyed lighting up the dance floor, and others spent their time relaxing on the top deck outside.

At the end of the night, Shelly sent us all straight to our rooms to SHOWER. It was a long hot day, but we wouldn't have traded it for anything.
